Thermador tends to come as a full suite. The Pro Harmony or Pro Grand range, a Freedom refrigerator and freezer column pair behind panels, a Star Sapphire dishwasher and a cooktop for the island, all installed together in a remodel. We find those suites in the view houses on Fox Island, in Canterwood, along Harborview Dr near the netsheds and, over the bridge, in the reworked kitchens of Old Town. Because the pieces went in at once, they age at once, so a call about the range often mentions the dishwasher in passing. The ranges lose igniters and spark modules; the columns lose evaporator fans and defrost parts; the dishwashers clog their drain pumps and trip the flood switch.
On this side of the water the machines take a beating from the environment. Well water on Fox Island and around Artondale leaves iron and scale in a Freedom column’s ice maker and in the dishwasher’s heater and inlet valve, so the first sign is cloudy glasses or a thin sheet of ice. Salt air along Hale Passage and Ruston Way corrodes the Star burner electrodes until the spark jumps somewhere useless. A PSE outage in a winter windstorm, then a generator with a rough waveform, is a common start to an E305 on a range display. And a propane Thermador on the Key Peninsula that never got its regulator switched burns yellow from the day it was delivered.

Whatever the machine, we begin by reading it. A Thermador oven or dishwasher stores its last errors, and a Freedom column reports its temperatures and fan status on the panel, so we spend the opening stretch of the visit listening to the machine before opening anything. A gas range then gets a manometer on the manifold and a clamp meter on the oven igniter; a column gets a thermistor check and a look at the evaporator; a dishwasher has its filter, drain pump and float inspected in that order. The truck stocks igniters, spark modules, evaporator fans, defrost heaters, drain pumps, inlet valves and fill valves for these lines. Control boards, door assemblies and panel hinges are ordered; we come back to fit them with no second trip fee.

Where a range or column is new enough that the maker’s own coverage might still apply, we tell you before starting so you can choose which route to take. For a Fox Island or Key Peninsula vacation home, the owner sees a photo, approves by text, and finds the invoice with its written warranty in their inbox. The money side is simple. Once you approve, the $99 diagnostic is absorbed by the written figure; should you decline, your bill stops at $99. No figure is quoted ahead of the diagnostic, afterward everything goes on paper, and a Tacoma invoice carries nothing for the bridge.
E24 says the machine could not pump the water out in time. Most often the cause is a drain pump impeller that has jammed, a seized check valve or a food-clogged filter. On a septic system out toward Artondale it can also be a kinked or heavy drain hose. We clear, test and put the price in writing.
The star-shaped ports clog with boil-over and the flame cannot travel to the far points. If the burner base is a hair off its seat, the same thing happens. We clean the ports, reseat the burner, check the orifice against the gas type and confirm the flame with a gauge reading on the manifold.
Yes. We come over the Narrows every working day and the price card does not change on the Tacoma side. The toll runs eastbound only, and nothing for it is added to your invoice. Columns set into cabinetry in the older North End houses need care with the panels, and we bring the right tools for it.
Not necessarily. E305 is a communication fault between the display and the main control, and a surge or rough generator power can cause it without destroying anything. We power the oven down properly, reseat the connections and test both boards before recommending a part, and we put the number in writing first.
