Miele is the quiet brand in the house. The G-series dishwasher hidden by a Canterwood kitchen’s cabinet panel, the W1 and T1 pair stacked in a Uptown townhome closet or a Point Ruston condo, the older W3000 and T8000 pair still working in a Point Fosdick ranch, and the H-series ovens in the newer Fox Island and Old Town remodels. Owners bought them to run for twenty years, and the mechanical parts largely do. What gives out is the drain pump under a load of glass and grit, the inlet valve on hard water, the heater relay on the power module, the door lock, and on the heat-pump dryers a condenser fluff filter that has quietly filled.
Water is the story on the peninsula. A Miele dishwasher fed by an Artondale or Fox Island well with iron in it stains the tub and coats the heater; let the softener run dry of salt and the first sign is white film on the glasses, and the machine’s own salt reservoir, if it has one, wants refilling on Gig Harbor city water. Tacoma Water is soft, so a North End Miele has different complaints: age, a basement laundry with a long drain run, and on Ruston Way the salt air that greens the connectors. A PSE outage rarely hurts the machines, but the surge that follows can leave a washer with an electronics fault that may or may not clear.

Miele machines keep a fault memory, and we read it before anything else. The stored codes, the hours run and the program history tell us whether a dishwasher has been drain-limited for months or a washer only tripped once after the last outage. From there the meter comes out: drain pump windings, inlet valve coils, heater resistance, tacho output, door lock contacts. On a dryer we measure the temperatures across the heat-pump condenser and inspect the filters and sensor bars. The truck carries the drain pumps, inlet valves, door locks, carbon brushes and filters that account for most Miele calls. Power modules, heater assemblies and door glass are ordered by the machine’s serial number, and we return to fit them with no second trip fee.
A plain word about who we are. Narrows Appliance Pro is an independent repair shop; we are not a Miele dealer and we do not sell or install their machines. If yours is recent enough that the maker’s own coverage might still apply, we tell you before the diagnostic starts and you decide. Vacation-home owners on Fox Island approve by text from a photo of the fault, and we email the invoice and the written warranty after a full program. Our pricing does not change for the badge on the door. Diagnosis costs $99; approve the work and that $99 sits inside the figure rather than on top of it; decline, and the visit costs $99 and nothing more. Every figure is set once the meter has spoken and put on paper, and a Tacoma invoice carries nothing for the bridge.
F11 is a drain fault. The pump could not move the water out in time, which usually means a fruit seed or a piece of glass has jammed the drain pump, the non-return valve is stuck, or the filter has gone months without a cleaning. We clear the path, run a drain test and put the figure on paper before any part is changed.
On Gig Harbor city water, which is moderately hard, many Miele models do better with the built-in softener active and filled, and on a Fox Island or Artondale well it is close to essential. White film on glasses is the first sign the reservoir is empty or the setting is wrong. We test the hardness and set it at the visit.
Yes, and the Tacoma side pays the same price card as Gig Harbor, with nothing for the bridge toll on the invoice. Stacked pairs in condo closets and washers at the foot of narrow basement stairs are ordinary work for us; we bring the tools to slide the machine out and put it back level.
A heat-pump dryer moves heat through a small condenser, and when the fluff filter, plinth filter or condenser fins are matted with lint, it cannot. A coated humidity sensor adds to it. We clean the whole air path, test the sensor bars and check the loop temperatures before we blame the compressor.
